Robert C. (Bob) Brooks is a local Volusia County artist who grew up in DeLand. Florida. He has been in business as an artist full time since 1990 and has been commissioned by corporations, schools and colleges, churches and numerous private clients from England to California who have all been interested in his highly detailed style.

Bob specializes in drawings and paintings of local scenes in both west and east Volusia County, such as The Old Spanish Sugar Mill at DeLeon Springs State Park and Lake Woodruff Wildlife Refuge, historic buildings in nearby DeLand, as well as the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. Bob also has a line of unique notecards and Christmas cards with original artwork and poetry; and he is a picture framer, working out of his studio and workshop in DeLeon Springs. Bob recently published his first book, featuring his Christmas art and poetry, titled Views of the Manger. In addition to drawing, painting and poetry, Bob is a wood assemblage sculptor, winning several prizes in local art shows for his unique pieces.

While art had long been a passion for Brooks, it wasn’t until 1990 that it became his avocation. Previously, he earned a BA degree in History, a Master’s and Doctorate in Christian Education and worked as teacher, headmaster and administrator in several Christian schools in Florida and Virginia. Brooks now lives in DeLeon Springs, Florida, with his wife of 57 years, Camy Brooks. They have two grown sons, Michael and John.
